CPD for Teachers Support
Our CPD support for teachers has been carefully selected to ensure it is appropriate and affordable, so our registered candidates will benefit from heavily discounted rates on both our chosen CPD partnerships. Keeping up to date with new policies and changes in legislation, particularly safeguarding is vital within the classroom, this knowledge can also build confidence to deal with difficult situations.
According to surveys and reports the rise of mental health issues experienced by teachers and pupils is continuing to increase. This places a lot of education staff in the frontline of identifying early signs of pupil mental ill health and preventing it.
Results from a recent NASUWT’s wellbeing at work survey where teachers reported the following.
1 in 5 primary school pupils has a mental health issue.
1 in 4 secondary school pupils has a mental health issue.
50% of all life time mental illness begins by age 14 years.
Our Partnerships
As a specialist education recruitment agency, we recognise the importance of supporting and developing supply staff to help manage mental health issues in the classroom.
With the above in mind, we have partnered with two established and outstanding organisations to offer our candidates access to CPD courses to support their development, Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust who specialises in the emotional wellbeing of children, young people, and their families and CPD Online College who offer a wide range of safeguarding, wellbeing and subject specific courses.
In response to these identified challenges, we have partnered with experts to deliver bespoke CPD training. Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust is a West Yorkshire-based charity specialising in the emotional wellbeing of children, young people, and their families. As specialists with years of experience, they take a holistic approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health, that involves parents, carers, schools, and colleges.
Training sessions aim to enhance knowledge, understanding, and confidence across a wide range of topics, along with practical strategies to use in any classroom setting. Delivered online via Teams, training goes beyond just watching a video, and has opportunity for interaction, discussion, and questions. All training is delivered by Helen Parker, a wellbeing Learning and Development Lead, Northorpe Hall. Helen, has a background in Education, including head teachership, as well as expertise in children and young people’s mental health.
All courses are open to our registered supply staff at a subsidised rate of a 20% discount. Courses last about 1.15 hours but will vary due to the interaction and option to ask questions, access is via TEAMs.
